Community Emergency Response Team

Course Outline 

Certified instructors from the Newark CERT program present the training for classes 1-5. Class 6 is presented by CERT instructors and members of the Alameda County Fire Department.  Students are required to attend six classes which are presented once a week during the evenings from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Silliman Activity Center, 6800 Mowry Ave and at Union City’s CERT facility behind ACFD Stn. 31 (Class 6).

If available, students will be provided with a training manual for use during class and can download their own copies from the Newark CERT Downloads page. Students are also required to complete the FEMA online course IS-317 (www.newarkcert.org/class-description/online-courses/) by class 6.  Upon successful completion of all six classes, students will receive a Certificate of Completion and CERT ID.

CERT classes are FREE.
