For each adult or older child in your home, take a pair of shoes, a pair of socks, a flashlight and batteries, put them in a plastic grocery bag and tie it to the leg of the bed they sleep in. For a younger child, put a pair of shoes and a pair of socks.
This way, if a disaster hits in the middle of the night, everyone will know where their shoes are, and won't have to get up, stumble through what's fallen on the floor, and possibly get hurt
