Newark ARES HAM Radio

Emergency Activation Plan

In the event of an emergency:

1. Ensure that you and your family are safe.

2. Begin to monitor the Tri-City Resource Repeater (147.015MHz+  PL 103.5Hz) to get an understanding of the extent of the emergency.  The Newark, Fremont and Union City EOC HAM radio stations will be activating the Resource Net fairly soon after the beginning of the emergency.  Remember that the Resource Net and all Tactical Nets will be Directed Nets, so all calls must go through their respective Net Control Operators.

3. Monitor the local Tactical Net for the area that you are in physically.  If you are in Newark, the Primary Simplex Frequency is 446.600MHz, and the Secondary Simplex Frequency is 446.800MHz.  (Use the form below to request a copy of the Tri-City Band Plan.  The Excel (xls) file will be emailed to you. Please do not transmit on the local Tactical Net unless you have Emergency traffic.  Initial use of the Tactical Net will be to pass Emergency Life Threat messages in to the EOC. Listen to Net Control, and follow their directions.

4. If you are able to help, please check in with Net Control on the local Tactical Net frequency, after all Emergency traffic has been passed.  The Newark EOC will be utilizing HAM communications with both the CERT teams and other HAM radio operators, to gather information about the condition of the city during the emergency.

Weekly Practice Net:  Tuesday evenings at 7:30PM on the Resource Repeater 147.015+ PL 103.5
